Embattled YTB near deal in California lawsuit
YTB International says it has reached a deal with California regulators to settle the massive lawsuit that has dogged it for months.
But the deal is not done just yet, says California.
The Wood River-based online travel company sent an e-mail to hundreds of staffers and salespeople Monday night saying it had reached a "tentative settlement agreement" with the state of California to end a $25 million deceptive marketing lawsuit filed in August by Attorney General Jerry Brown.
"YTB will continue to focus on its objectives and move forward with you in building a great company," wrote company President Andy Cauthen in a copy of the e-mail obtained by the Post-Dispatch.
Not so fast, said California.
"There is no final agreement at this point," said Scott Gerber, a spokesman for Brown. "And the attorney general would not enter into any settlement that did not change how YTB markets and operates its business in California so that consumers are protected.

Why do I get the feeling that this is becoming a PR nightmare with YTB
My question is twofold:
1. Why did they wait so long before taking ANY action with this?
2. Who is advising them on this? It seems they are a day late and a dollar short….meaning CA Atty. General just put them back in their box..again..
Oh brother.
It doesn't seem as if they have any competent advisor.

It will just be unending for a while. Illinois filed the same day the California suit was settled. There are also other states that are investigating.
