A passport is a proof of citizenship and guarantees you protection from the government of the country. Therefore every citizen must have a passport or order a passport if he does not have one already. To order a passport you must know what documents to attach with your application to ensure fast processing of the application.
You need to order a passport if you travel to foreign countries frequently. A passport is a permit to visit countries for a fixed purpose and a fixed duration of time. The passport is an important proof of identity especially when visiting countries in a war like situation and entitles you to protection from your country’s government.
As a citizen, you can order a passport in various categories. A layman can order an ordinary passport while government officials and diplomats get a different type of passport. Diplomats get a diplomatic passport that entitles them to diplomatic immunity and several other special rights. It is black in color and the top cover bears the words diplomatic to differentiate it from an ordinary passport. It mentions that the holder of the passport is a diplomat of the US government.
You can order a service passport if you are a lower level employee of the foreign embassy with lesser concessions than a diplomatic passport. Sometimes you may require a visa if you hold a service passport rather than an ordinary passport. Sometimes a group can order a passport for the entire group for the visit.
When you order a passport, you must know the time taken for processing. You can order yourself or operate through an agency that will handle all the documentation and follow up once you give them the relevant documents. You need to give your photographs and copies of your birth certificate to apply for a passport. Under normal conditions, it takes four to eight weeks to get your passport delivered home. Under the quick processing, you will get your passport within two weeks or even four days.
