Robert Kiyosaki is an acclaimed author and businessperson. He spent his early days at Hawaii and served the U.S. Marine Corps for a short time. Robert Kiyosaki did a few odd jobs before starting on a career of teaching and investing. His best-seller is the book ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad.’ The book dwells on ways of changing the mindset of people, as they are forever trying to live their lives through paychecks.

Robert Kiyosaki also has many other books to his credit. His main theme is to spread information about different other types of investment sources like real estates. He advocates people to change their mindset of investing only in securities and instead, spread their investments into real estate too.

Robert Kiyosaki further illustrates his points through certain games in his books. These games are Cashflow 101, Cashflow 202, and others. Cashflow 101 is a basic game teaching you how to come out of the perennial circle of living from paycheck to paycheck. Cashflow 202 goes beyond and teaches you developed investing strategies like stock options. He tries to instill the investment habits from a young age. His book Rich Kid, Smart Kid and game Cashflow for Kids are for teenagers.

Robert Kiyosaki tries to make it clear at the onset that anything, which gives you money, is an asset while anything that makes you spend is a liability. He therefore asserts your house as a liability as you have to make mortgage payments on the house. If your house is free of mortgage, yet it is a liability as you incur expenses on maintenance of the house.

Rich Dad Poor Dad

Rich Dad, Poor Dad is the first best-selling book of Robert Kiyosaki. The main theme of the book is to stress on the fact that you can make better gains being your own boss rather than being somebody else’s employee. Robert Kiyosaki through Rich Dad, Poor Dad advocates use of various financial tactics to invest and own real estate businesses.

Story in the Book

The main story in the book Rich Dad Poor Dad dwells between the lifestyles, thinking, and perception of two fathers. Robert explains things by saying that he has two fathers, the poor one is the biological father while the rich one is a make-believe character and father of Robert’s friend, Michael. The poor father is very intelligent with a PhD. He has done all his university studies on full scholarship.

Although Robert’s poor father in Rich Dad Poor Dad earns great respect during his career, yet he finally loses his job for standing against the governor of Hawaii. He dies due to huge debt. On the other hand, the rich father is a drop out of eight grade. Nevertheless, he is a multimillionaire and mints millions through his own efforts and ideas.

The rich father of Rich Dad Poor Dad teaches various moneymaking tactics to Robert and Michael. He insists that these tactics can help them earn money on their own and not work for somebody else, as is normally the norm everywhere. Ideally, the book is a comparison between the two characters and their drastic effects on Robert’s life and thinking.

In his book, The Business Schook, Robert espouses the values of network marketing, mlm and the training many reputable companies provide.
